tions and the clinical records of the virtual patient are also pro-
vided by the training system. The case database of the Eyesi
Ophthalmoscope is being constantly extended.

The Eyesi Ophthalmoscope provides detailed evaluation of pro-
cedural and diagnostic skills. A fundus scheme editor and a multi-
ple-choice diagnosis specification tool allow trainees to describe
their diagnostic findings in detail. The diagnosis is evaluated by
the system for immediate feedback. Scored parameters of the
examination procedure include the retinal area visible in the mag-
nifier, examination time or possible light toxicity. All evaluation
data is recorded for analysis by the educator.
The diagnostic lens and the light source of the Eyesi
ophthalmoscope have to be exactly aligned in front of the
model eye in order to render fundus images. Students
learn how to cope with inverted images and how to move
the diagnostic lens correctly.
